Aortic valve replacement surgical procedure: Know the details

People in huge numbers are found to suffer from heart diseases and this number is only found to be increasing with passing time. It might result if the patient experiences chest pain. It is found to be similar to the symptoms faced by heart attack patients. The other symptoms faced by the patients are experiencing fainting spells, getting dizzy or light headed. This will mean having to undergo this particular surgery. When to undergo the surgical procedure?

When opting for this procedure, the valve gets replaced with prosthesis. It can be either biological or mechanical. Choosing any of them will offer similar benefits to the patient. The mechanical one can be expected to function well for a longer time period, while the biological type will cause less formation of blood clots. Patients choosing the mechanical type are required to take anticoagulants or blood thinners. Recovery period lasts for about a week, with the patient requiring to spend in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for around 1-3 days.
