Know More About Credit / Debit card

With the increasing trend in online shopping and transactions occurring across the globe, there is an imperative need for a safe and secure plastic card for money transactions. There have been many cases of credit / debit card fraud in the past few years. Thousands of cardholders become victims of credit card fraud or identity theft almost every month. Plastic is becoming less and less safe with each passing day. However, nobody still considers coming back to cash. It is always better to look for safer ways to use your credit or debit cards.

Credit / debit card offers great comfort by eliminating the need to carry large amounts of cash. It allows us to buy items over the Internet or phone and even through postal order. Unfortunately, these advantages are also available to fraudsters who will never lose the opportunity to use your card and details to make fraudulent transactions and purchases. There are certain precautions that you must keep in mind to protect your card and personal details.

The first and foremost precaution to remember is protecting your personal or bank account information. Never give out this information to anyone, especially if that person is not known to you. Your bank will never ask you about your Personal Identification Number (PIN) or password. If someone claiming to be from your bank approaches you asking details of your credit / debit card, simply refuse and contact your bank for inquiring as soon as possible.

The next important thing is keeping your credit / debit card details safe and secure. There have been multiple instances of fraud occurring as a result of details stolen from the discarded paperwork or information. Therefore, you must always keep statements and other documentations from the bank with card and account details in a secure place. If you really want to throw them away, make sure that you shred or destroy the papers completely before disposing them.

It is advisable to keep the receipts from all transactions, especially those made with your credit / debit card. Not only would it act as a proof of purchase whenever there is any requirement for a refund or exchange but also could be used to check statements to ensure that all the transactions have been accomplished correctly. By taking care of these precautions, you could enjoy a relaxed and tension-free usage of plastic cards.
